In the meeting here in the first week in February we picked both the winner and the third horse home in a Beginners' Chase. The race was a mile longer than this but the rules apply the same way with BCs regardless of distance. This is what we said back then which still holds true here:
Look at the prizemoney of each horse's most recent races. Go with the horse that has been running in the races with the highest prizemoney races on average in its last three races. That's the trick with beginners' chases.
Now there is one exception to this and that is if the horse has run in much higher prizemoney races but has fared particularly badly. That may be enough to spoil the horse's chances here.
