Worcester 6.20 Midnight Spirit 3rd 10/3 is the choice of the general profile due to his 7lb claim whereas Profile 2 goes with Washango, WON 11/2 a choice agreed with one of the many local key factors. Most key factors though prefer Evening Haze 5th 6/1 or, like Profile 4 are split between that choice and Simbamead.

Worcester 7.20 Brimham Boy 4th 11/4 is the choice of the two leading profiles, P0 and P2 whilst American World WON 2/1 finds favour with Profile 1 and Profile 4 and a local key factor. Other local key factors though point to Native Taipan 3rd 2/1 so it's a wide open race although the profitable profiles are probably the best bet when they agree.

A Study Of Novices' Hurdles Using Profiles in May - The Story So Far

This month we are continuing to focus on Novices' Hurdles. There is a general profile (also known as Profile 0 or P0 or the Stratford), three alternative profiles (P1, P2 and P4 also known as The Wetherby), a local profile (depending on the race course) and sometimes a local spoiler profile. Of course, that's a lot of profiles but, since we started this study in earnest early in April, a Novices' Hurdle has not been run wherein the winner did not meet at least one or more of these profiles. That was until the last week or so when no less than five horses missed the profiles completely but the profiles have been re-calibrated since to include even these five winners.

So that's well over thirty races that we have shortlisted and the shortlist has included the winner every time. No less than three profiles picked the last NH winner on Monday at Newton Abbot: Oedipe thus stamping their authority. Added to that, in the past week no less than six forecasts have been included in the three main selections from the profiles listed on this site. The profiles themselves have been detailed often in these pages and can be found on this page.

By examining the May records to date of each of the profiles below, you can make an informed judgement as to which profile you might like to consider when perusing the tips at the top of the page. In summary, Profiles 0, 1 and 2 continue to turn a profit in May with Profile 2 consistently showing the best performance (we expect Profile 0 to re-establish its authority in the back half of the month) whilst Profiles 3 and 4, plus the local and spoiler profiles are now all making a loss and so will not be endorsed in our tips section (above) until such time as they come back into profit.
